Past, future of Mystic River is focus of CUSH event

Stonington – The organization Clean Up Sound and Harbors will host “Changes in the Sound” at 5:30 p.m. Sept. 11 at the River Room at Mystic Seaport, near the north entrance on Route 27.

The program, for CUSH members and the public, will take place in conjunction with the group’s annual meeting. It will focus on the past, present and future of the Mystic River.

The event will include talks by: Stephen Jones, maritime researcher, professor, author and founder of the University of Connecticut’s Maritime Studies Program; Louise Allyn, president of the Mystic River Historical Society; William Peterson, curator emeritus of the Mystic Seaport; James Carlton, professor of marine sciences and biology at Williams College and director of the Williams College-Mystic Seaport Maritime Studies Program; and Claire Garvin, director of water quality testing at CUSH.
