The first place foursome at CUSH’s 1st Annual Salty Sandbagger Golf Tournament benefit on Monday, October 5, at Elmridge Golf Course, gets to choose from three top prizes. The second place team gets next choice, with a total of three winning teams:

Sailing with J-boat designer Rodney Johnstone one fine day next spring. The first J/Boat was created by Johnstone in his garage. When it beat everything in sight at 1976 races, a legend began. Today there are 5,400 J/24s under sail, with over 7,000 other J/Boats riding the waves, ranging from the International J/22 to the J/65, at prices between $10,000 and $2 million.

For those who prefer to celebrate on land, a case of Chandon Blanc de Noirs sparkling wines donated by Brescome Barton, Inc. This delicate salmon colored wine is highly prized by connoisseurs, receiving an 88 on a 100-point scale by Wine Enthusiast and frequently served at White House receptions.

Fishing next spring with Francis Pandolfi, an enthusiastic and obviously capable sport fisherman. Pandolfi’s success comes from fishing these waters at every opportunity since his retirement and from knowledge gleaned during years as President of Times Mirror, publisher of Field & Stream, Outdoor Life, Skiing, Golf and Yachting magazines.

A strand of exotic, greenish-gray Tahitian pearls, valued at $3,500, is the prize for a hole-in-one, donated by jeweler Stephen Salomonson of Solomon’s Mines. The hole is #4 on the Elmridge White Course, a straight shot par 3 where Salomonson enjoyed seeing his own drive soar then drop into the cup. He still grins at the memory and hopes for a winner of these distinctive pearls, his firm’s specialty.
